Volkswagen Becomes Latest Automaker to Offer In-Car Gaming

Volkswagen has partnered with gaming platform AirConsole to introduce in-car gaming across several of its vehicle models. This feature is designed to provide entertainment for drivers and passengers during stops or while the vehicle is charging. The integration is set to begin in mid-September 2024 in select European countries, with plans to expand to additional regions and include more games by the end of 2024 and into 2025.

Key Features of the In-Car Gaming Experience:

  • Compatible Models: The AirConsole platform will be available on Volkswagen’s ID.7, ID.5, ID.4, and ID.3 models (starting from ID. software 4.0), as well as the new Passat, Tiguan, Golf, and Golf Estate.
  • User-Friendly Interface: Players can access games through the vehicle’s infotainment display, which serves as the gaming console. Smartphones act as controllers; users simply scan a QR code displayed on the infotainment screen to connect.
  • Multiplayer Support: The platform supports multiple players simultaneously, allowing both front and rear passengers to participate during stops. Games can be enjoyed solo or with all occupants together.
  • Safety Measures: To ensure safety, gameplay is only accessible when the vehicle is in park mode. corp.airconsole.com
