Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has unveiled Grok-3, its latest chatbot designed to compete with leading AI models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and China’s DeepSeek. Grok-3 is now accessible to Premium+ subscribers on Musk’s social media platform, X, and through a new SuperGrok subscription tier on xAI’s mobile app and Grok.com.
According to Musk, Grok-3 surpasses its predecessor, Grok-2, in performance, positioning xAI as a formidable contender in the open-source large language model arena. The development of Grok-3 involved significant investment, with xAI’s supercomputer cluster, Colossus, being the largest globally, underscoring the company’s commitment to advancing AI technology.
In addition to Grok-3, xAI has introduced DeepSearch, a reasoning-based chatbot aimed at enhancing tasks such as research, brainstorming, and data analysis. This tool is designed to articulate its thought process when responding to user queries, offering a more transparent AI interaction experience.
This launch comes shortly after DeepSeek’s release of a powerful open-source model, intensifying competition in the AI sector. Notably, Musk’s recent $97.4 billion bid to acquire OpenAI’s nonprofit assets was declined, indicating ongoing rivalries among major AI organizations.
