Azul, Cast AI join forces on Java performance

Azul Systems has partnered with cloud application performance company Cast AI in an effort to improve Java runtime performance, reduce the memory and compute footprint of cloud compute resources, and cut cloud spend.

The partnership, announced October 15, pairs the Azul Platform Prime JDK (Java Development Kit) with Cast AI’s Application Performance Automation (APA) platform to boost Java runtime efficiency, lower compute waste, and cut infrastructure costs by as much as 80%, the two companies said. By combining Azul Platform Prime, positioned as a high-performance Java platform, with APA, enterprises can enhance code execution, reduce application startup times, improve runtime consistency, and optimize Kubernetes clusters, according to the companies. There are no requirements for code changes, manual tuning, or application re-architecture, they added.

The partnership will focus on running Java applications in Kubernetes-based public cloud environments. The aim is to deliver “a modern devops experience” where Platform and engineering teams can benefit from maximizing Java performance, real-time cluster right-sizing based on Java workload demands, cloud cost reductions without code changes, and a unified solution for performance, security, reliability, and cost control, the companies said.
